About Us

 

The NJSVFA incorporated on November 26, 1952 in East Rutherford, NJ.  Original signers of the Charter were as follows:  Harvey Hoonan, Robert Jack, Sam Cervetto, Robert Sauer, and Joseph Stefanno.

 

Today, this fine group is a nationally recognized state fire organization.  It is an active member of the National Volunteer Fire Council, representing New Jersey in Washington, DC and across the country.

It represents firefighters through having a NVFC Director and Alternate from NJ who meet with other Directors from across the U.S. on matters on concern to the volunteers at National Conferences twice yearly.  The National Volunteer Fire Council is your voice in the federal legislative process.  For $18.00 per year Individuals may join the NVFC with $10,000.00 accidental death & dismemberment policy and doubles to $20,000.00 if its LODD.  Free online training, eligible to apple for gear and fire training.  Access to the Volunteer Voice, and many more online members discounts

 

The NJSVFA is your voice in the NJ State Legislature with a strong lobbying voice in Trenton.  The organization was instrumental in making the Infrared Cameras available to every fire department in the state.

 

 

The NJSVFA is also a sponsoring organization of the “What If No One Answered the Call?” 1-800-FIRE LINE Recruitment Campaign here in NJ.  The NVFC has taken hold of this campaign and now sponsors it nationally along with the Prudential Foundation.
